the term ‘dog recognise dog’ was born when i forgot the expression ‘game recognise game’, in a situation where i wanted to recognise a behaviour in somebody because of my own experience with that behaviour.
while ‘game recognises game’ is used between people with a shared skill, ‘dog recognise dog’ is used between people with shared behaviours. it is used when you want to let someone know or reassure them that you get it, because you also do it.
